SOS (survivors of suicide) is a group that was created to help support you during your time of healing. Time heals all wounds may not be true for all suicide survivors, but with time, comes strength and the ability to let the healing begin. With the guidance and support of others you can share your stories and find inspiration through theirs.
We were formed shortly after my husband, Raymond Callaham took his own life in August of 2012. I found it difficult to relate to the current support groups that were offered in my area. I felt the need to put my story out there for as many people to hear as possible in order to help others who might have felt as lost and as alone as I did.
Most suicide survivors are left with no reason, no understanding, and with many questions that will never be answered. This support group will not give you those things, but they will give you friends, support, guidance and the ability to trust again. You will be given the chance to share your story and to listen to others share theirs.
From within the circle, we hear the cries for Mothers, Fathers, Daughters, Sons, Brothers, Sisters, Family and friends. Remember, its ok to grieve, its ok to cry, its ok to heal and its ok to laugh.
